Prof. Emeritus Dr. Sc. Hans-F Graf’s research has always been a mixture of modelling and data analysis, examining all time and space scales of climate variations, from cloud microphysics up to global general circulation. Recently he has concentrated on processes of relevance to climate change, during the last years more focussed on physico-chemical aspects of climate change, particularly aerosols, stratospheric ozone, and fundamental modes of general circulation. Further he is involved in volcano and biomass burning plume modelling. Current fields of active research are the modelling and parameterisation of convective clouds for use in non-cloud resolving models, El Nino mainly in terms of fundamental process studies, and investigations into the effects changed land use and vegetation degradation on the Tibetan Plateau have on the local energy balance and convective clouds. Over 170 journal and book publications.
